Yeah, he did do a pretty good job on her. Especially considering the simplicity of his style. I think he really nailed Erin.

KG, your "Jim" avatar is very good. Is there a companion "Pam" sitting around on your drawing board?

There must be a good comeback here, but I can't think of one at this moment. Brick wall I feel like George Costanza, reaching deep down, and there's... nothin.' I'll be gone all afternoon, and a zinger will probably pop up at an inopportune time, when I don't have access to a computer. d'oh! Oh, well...

I thought this episode was ok, but i had a question in the scene where Jim accused Angela of stealing the baby, was the purse she was holding her purse or the purse the mean aunt was supposed to watch.

No, that was Angela's purse. She may steal scones... but I don't think she would steal someone else's purse. Though, you never know with Angela.... Think

You bring up a good point, Iquit. Whatever happened to the purse that Jim's grandmother was supposed to keep an eye on? Think

Which leads me to this new theory: Idea Purses seem to play pivotal roles in the ongoing saga of Dunder-Mifflin; first there was the Hot Girl, way back in Season One, who sold purses. Then you have Grandma Halpert watching a purse that mysteriously upped and walked away. Then you have Angela, furtively stuffing her purse with scones, only to be caught before she absconded with the scones. Next... uh, well I can't think of any more examples, so this theory stinks. Forget I ever brought it up. Rolling Eyes

But that was a good question about the missing purse, Iquit. We need a "deleted scene" to explain this! Very Happy

Lol... Probably the person who's purse it was just came back for it. If she didn't notice her great-granddaughter being taken by Pam's Mom then she certainly wouldn't notice a person coming back for their purse.

Finally got around to watching "Christening". I'll admit I was scared after reading Kevin's review via my cell phone in Disney World (while waiting in line for "Soarin" at Epcot).

My verdict? it wasn't awful as I feared. But I still feel Kev's analysis is spot-on. I think why I felt it wasn't awful is because all the recent eps have been just "meh". So this one wasn't great...par for the course unfortunately.
Sad

The whole thing had a very sitcomy feel to it. And that is not a compliment. A few bits that fell flat for me:
1. Tobys plot line. That whole bit could have just been him walking into the church and lamenting to the altar "why are you so mean to me?". It was a 2 second joke that they decided to drag out into multiple scenes that go nowhere.
2. The whole bus to Mexico thing. simply put, we've all seen Michael's desperation for friends, acceptance, family a million times. This was probably the worst example to shine a light on that tired old story line. Why do it again? It certainly didn't shed any new light on his feelings and it certainly wasn't entertaining or funny.
3. Baby Ce-Ce goes missing. Why?! Was this to illustrate that Angela steals food at parties? This went absolutely no where fast.
4. Andy's love for Erin. After last week's episode, I am starting to lose my love for Andy's Erin-crush. We see that as goofy as he is, Gabe is actually a good guy and a good boyfriend to Erin. Andy's antics are starting to border on stalking. It's been a while since we've seen Erin show any romantic feelings at all toward Andy, but we've seen lots of affection between her and Gabe. Either the writers need to show Erin still has some spark for Andy left asap, or Andy needs to back off.

I did get a few laughs out of the show.
Michael telling Oscar he does charity work at the mission to "pickup" was funny.
CeCe's outfit change was cute. Any parent knows a kid will do something like that at the most inopportune time. Not funny exactly, but very real.

that little throwaway line Andy delivered in the beginning of the ep. Kevin mentioned it in his recap, but it escapes my mind right now.

I think I will always love the show, but I don't look forward like it like i used too. Sad I do however, still look forward to my cyber-chats with you guys. Thanks for hanging in there even though our show is waning.

Laughing I'd forgotten about this brief exchange. Luckily, Donna was able to uncover it and bring it back up!

That intoxicating "new-show" aroma has faded from The Office, and critics and fans have moved on to create buzzes around the newer kids on the block. And let's not even get started on "Life after Steve Carell." But I still like LITO because it kind of evolved into what I consider to be a "Finer Things" club. There ain't many of us here, but I like all the members of this club, so I'll probably be here when they turn out the lights. And even then I'll probably sit for a little while in the darkness, too. Anxious

Yeah, it's really cool chatting with you guys even though the show is losing steam. We'll have to think about what to do when the final curtain goes down.

I think another reason why I notice that The Office is not what it was is that 30 Rock is better than it ever has been right now. Every episode this season has been incredible. I know it's something of an apples to oranges comparison between the shows but the bottom line is that I'm supposed to laugh and 30 Rock is winning that battle easily. Their last episode had an A/B/C storyline that weaved together, said something about the characters, was funny and ended in a satisfying way. In one episode! When's the last time The Office did that successfully?

Believe me Donna, I didn't WANT to be spot-in. I wanted Bob or HDF or you to say "Wow, Kev, you are being WAY too hard on this episode. It's not that bad at all!" But no one said that. And that made me even sadder... Sad Sad Sad

Sorry, I disappointed you with my silence Kevin. I only watched this episode once, was unimpressed and moved on. I was kind of glad I didn't have to recap it, because I probably wouldn't have very many positive things to say either. I miss the days where I could watch the same episode over and over again and still enjoy it; finding new and exciting things to love about it each time; but as you so eloquently put it, those days are gone. I wonder if NBC will even renew the show after this season since even though Steve is still there, it seems to be going downhill. I just don't want a series finale that will be a flop or leave us hanging.

No disappointment, HDF. I just wanted to be wrong and boy, I guess I wasn't. That episode didn't resonate with ANYONE it seems. I rarely go check out Office Tally but their people were as unimpressed as we were. And NBC seems determined to keep the show going so, unless the ratings absolutely fall through the cellar, I think we will be getting at least another season of The Office. Which, sadly, does not excite me.

I'll admit that back in the hey-dey of the show, I was a regular Office Tally stalker (only joined in a few times, too many comments for me to noticed). It's been a very long time since I checked that site out either.

But one of you guys usually do go to OT and report back on our threads. I like it, because I'm no longer involved in the Office-world other than LITO. It's good to hear what's happening out there.

This is the first time I've ever heard you guys mention a negative response to an episode on OT. To me that's very bad. We've been honest about how the episodes are losing their luster and all the while you've been reporting back to LITO that we were the only ones who apparently felt that way. Glowing reviews from OT readers all around!

So, it's even more sad that OT is finally in sync with what we've been saying for a long time now. Crying or Very sad

If you're big enough to admit to the one time OT lurking, I'll admit to it as well Donna. Much like you I have not been over to the site in ages. Even though Jenny Tan often gets inside scoop and exclusives like her accounts of her personal set visits, I usually only head over there if I need to fact check something.

I'm shocked beyond words that all her readers weren't completely in love with every episode. A lot of them are kind of mindless drones. At least we are not afraid to speak the truth here at LITO.

Sadly, I think that part of the reason I have remaind so unspoiled is from a lack of interest in fan site lurking. I just figure I'll wait until Thursday to see what's going to happen. I used to get excited for every advance tidbit I could find. Now I'm not so sure I'm going to like what I see, so I figure why set myself up for disappointment any earlier than I have to. I didn't even know the name of this week's episode until I started watching it and hit the ''Info" button on the remote so I would know how to title my recap. Pretty sad.

Yeah, I think "Christening" had a 5.5/10 score over on Office Tally. Wow, that's unbelievably low for that site. You guys are right, they stand by every episode and jump up and down about them like they were "Casino Night" or "Health Care" or something. That's a major thing when they start criticizing...
