Believe it or not, though I have lived in Portland since 1998, I have NEVER been to Voodoo Donuts. I know, i know, what am I thinking? Although, like Suri, I also only eat kosher, so the staple donut would definitely not be for me.
I do, however, live around many of the benson bubblers, and drink from them often throughout the warm months of summer. They are always bubbling around me here in the Pearl District of downtown Portland.
This is seriously off topic, but speaking of Portland attractions, you have to check out Kornblatz on NW 23rd which is an authentic New York City Kosher Jewish deli. They make the best sandwiches in the WORLD!!!!
One of the best things I love about Portland is how many amazing places there are to eat.
As far as I know, there has never been a sitcom set in Portland. Now THAT would be something! |

Danjlion7, here's a Wikipedia article about shows that have been set in Portland: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fiction_set_in_Oregon Of these, I'm familiar with "Life Unexpected," which was actually filmed in Vancouver, BC and wasn't very good, and "Portlandia," which is filmed on the streets of Portland, and is pretty darn funny. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portlandia_(TV_series) Here is my favorite scene from "Portlandia," filmed on the East Esplanade of the Willamette Riverwalk: http://www.ifc.com/videos/portlandia-portland-dream-of-the-90s.php
We like to walk up to the "Trendy-3rd District," but we've never been to Kornblatz. We have eaten at Kenny and Zuke's Jewish Deli next to the Ace Hotel; but as Suri pointed out to me awhile back, the joint is not kosher! http://www.kennyandzukes.com/
You are correct, sir, this thread is seriously off-topic! Back to you, "Mrs. California!" (We have a seldom-used thread called "Your Non-Office Life," and we should dust it off and post stuff like this there.) |

Wow, I'd never heard of portlandia before, other than the sculpture. Thank you! That show looks hilarious. Will def have to check it out.
Kenny and Zuke's does not even compare to kornblatz, not by a long shot. Kornblatz is infinitely better, and I emphasize infinitely. |
