Thanks for checking in, Danjlion7! Yeah, these long layoffs of the show are difficult; it really puts the pressure on a returning episode to be spectacular. Unfortunately, I didn't think "Trivia" was spectacular. And the cold opening felt spectacularly unspectacular to me. The cold opening, for cryin' out loud... I mean, you wanna get things re-started with a big bang, don't ya? And they came up with silence-in-a-working-office?
Maybe that weak opening affected the way I watched the rest of the episode. I'd like to hear other opinions. |

Ummm . . . I was most decidedly underwhelmed by this episode.
Hoping the recap on LITO will be MUCH better! |

Danjlion7, now you will be able to reap the rewards of being a LITO member. Over the years, no matter how, uh... less-than-stellar an episode has been, I've always enjoyed the recaps of the other LITO writers. With some clunky shows, I got way more laughs out of the recap. I usually end up feeling better about any episode after the LITO recap. *
*With the exception, of course, of the recaps that I've written. |

| I will say the only thing I really LIKED about this episode is at least they finally portrayed Kevin as having some knowledge on things. Well, for MOST of the episode anyway. |

The batting order look like this: Donna leading off, me in the 2-hole, Suri slugging third and Kevin hitting clean-up. Since I was up to bat last, for "Christmas Wishes," that means Suri is in the on-deck circle. C'mon Suri, we need you to give the team a lift here.
As far as Kevin Malone goes, I like it when his part is written intelligently, as a somewhat clueless but otherwise normal guy. It really bothers me that he is often written as a drooling, one-dimensional moron. That just strikes me as lazy, lowest-common-denominator writing... playing to the cheap seats. |

I'm curious for your take, Bob, and others on the seasons performance so far.
Now that we are half way though this season, what does everyone think?
I have to say, overall, I'm nit really feeling it this season. Seems pretty lackluster to me. A few episodes have been enjoyable, but most have been mediocre.
I found myself missing Michael after this past episode.
I'd say they will really have to wow us for the rest of the season, if they hope to salvage it. A string of underwhelming episodes betrays what this show used to be. |

I think Season Eight has had its ups and downs, like most other seasons. Surviving the loss of Steve Carell was an enormous challenge, and in my opinion the show has made a noble effort to re-invent itself. After every good episode, human nature usually dictates that I crow "Yeah, baby they're back." Then, after every less-than-wonderful episode, I wail "That's it, they're doomed." Uh... "Trivia" didn't leave me much to crow about.
I hope we hear some "wailing" or "crowing," or something from other LITO-ites soon. Some kind of "peep." |

hey whats up? I should probably come on a little more often are you new? I thought the episode was ok. It feels like pretty much any show could have done a trivia night thing. I used to be in academic quiz bowl in high school. I wasn't that good at it and more than that. It feels like I am getting old and consntaly not like forget things, but it is almost like I cant find that exact fact in my head. Welcome to the forum. I was bored with this episode so I'm starting to think about how they're going to conclude the show. Does the documentary crew put their film together? Will that documentary be the finale or a special episode? _________________ Schedule a cleaning today! |

i thought they killed the documentary thing. I miss people looking into the camera when someone does/ says something stupid. _________________ I don't spell too good, and my grammar is abysmal. What I will do is for every grammar or spelling error you catch I will give you 100 schrute bucks. |

We kicked this idea around a bit in the "Office Talk" thread under "Stanley's musical video." Here's the link to that thread:

The structure of the final documentary is a fun idea to kick around. I wouldn't mind giving it a few more kicks. |

That sure looks like Steve Carell. If I saw that guy in a bar, I would violently jerk on his fake "beard," and yell "Give it up, Steve!" Uh... And then I would hope it was him.
That would be just like our fun-lovin' friends on The Office to sneak a cameo appearance in there without any publicity... except what fans generate on the internet. |

Hi there. I found The Office on Netflix and watched all the seasons last fall. Then I found this forum.
I was pretty disappointed with the episode. |

Hey Dr. Crentist, thanks for the screencap pic!
I heard some rumblings on Facebook about Steve Carell's supposedly appearing in "Trivia" in disguise. But there was no photo attached. Now that I can see what character people are referring too, I'd have to say that it sure looks like Steve, doesn't it?
Although, why would he do that? Is he so bored that he's just hanging around The Office set? The bar scene must have taken hours to film. He seems like a great, down to earth guy. However, would he waste most of a day on a uncredited cameo on a show he just left?
That said, it sure does look like him! _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

Ah! Thanks for the tip Crentist. He did look alot like Steve. But it just didn't make sense to me why he'd return for an uncredited cameo. Im sure he misses his fellow castmates, but a quick "hello" beats hours filming onset to greet your old buddies. _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |
